Why This Exist
“The Missing Conversation is a long-form podcast about the passages that define a man’s life: leaving home, building a career, becoming a husband and father, watching the house empty, and facing the end. Each episode, host Steve Evans sits down with one man and asks what his life actually felt like from the inside — what it cost him, what it gave him, and what he wishes someone had told him along the way. No advice. No five-step formulas. Just honest conversation, the kind that used to happen around fires and on front porches, before men stopped gathering.”
THE GENESIS
The place Steve couldn’t find.
So he built it.
A Dad in New York
Steve spent ten years navigating the high-velocity world of technology in New York City. On paper, it was the definition of success. But behind the performance, a quiet disconnect was growing.
As a father and husband, he realized that while he had plenty of
colleagues, he lacked a true circle—a space where men could discuss the
profound shifts of identity that occur as we age. The transition from
career-builder to elder, the nuances of long-term partnership, and the
silent weight of responsibility.
"I looked around and realized the rituals for the second half of
life were missing. We were all just improvising in the dark."
He searched for a podcast, a forum, or a foundation that treated
masculinity not as a problem to be solved or a brand to be sold, but as a
journey to be navigated with honesty. Finding none, he began the missing
conversation himself.
To restore honest conversation among men across the passages of life and to build the circle that should have existed all along
NATURAL REALITIES, NOT
CRISES
Modern culture treats the transitions of a man's life as "crises." We
believe they are natural passages. Each stage of life demands a
different version of ourselves, and yet we are rarely taught how to
shed the old to make room for the new.
The Missing Conversation exists to provide the framework for these
transitions. Through deep-form interviews and solitary reflections,
we explore the architecture of a meaningful life.
